Rainbow Twizzlers II

I made this collage in this site called photovisi. It's OK, I guess, better than Picasa. I hope I can find other ways to make collages without a watermark.

Rainbow Twizzlers - I

Rainbow Twizzlers
I've been trying to add this photo collage of mine to Pinterest since last December. I hope that by blogging the photo it will work (I tried to upload the photo directly to Pinterest and it didn't work). But maybe the problem is that I used Picasa for the collage and not some other program. OK, let me see what it looks like!

2.25.11 Useful for nearly 15 years, now Recycled

We bought this container with rolled oats at a BJ's Wholesale Club in Massachusetts sometime either in 1996 or 97 and we've been using it since then to store lentils. I dropped it on the floor last week and it broke, so I had to finally recycle it. Nobody can say I'm not reusing and recycling! Now I just have to work on the reducing part. ;)

2.17.11 - Typical (Vegetarian) Brazilian Meal

Rice, beans, scrambled eggs and lettuce with a tomato and onion salad. You can't get more typical than that! (except that my rice was basmati there).

2.15.11 - Trying to Replace Most Favorite Chocolate

(Four!!) years ago I blogged about my sadness in not being able to taste my favorite chocolate anymore because Lindt just stopped making it around 1999... :(

When I saw this new bar by Godiva, I couldn't wait to try it, but I have to report that it was a great disappointment. Their raspberry/dark chocolate bar is better. But neither of them can compare to my beloved Lindt strawberry liquid filling chocolate bar of yore. :(

2.11.11 - Valentine's Day Themed Dessert 1

Melted European Chocolate (purchased at Aldi), a mix of dark and milk chocolate. It's the easiest thing to melt in the microwave. Taken on 2/13.

1.11.10 - Cashew Fruit

The nut is taken from inside the "pod" at the bottom of the fruit after it's dry. I guess that technically the nut is the fruit.

7.7.09 - All You Can Eat!

This was my first plate when we went out for lunch here on my birthday. I'm just SOOOO hungry just thinking about all this yummy food (in this plate I only have vegetarian options)! And I feel really sad that my husband doesn't care for Asian food in general and Japanese in particular :-(. I need to go with a friend if I want to go there again...

And here's proof that I did, indeed, eat raw fish (salmon, the only one I tried) and loooved it!
(I had to crop the photo, because K didn't want to appear in my blog :-( ).

2.21 - Soup Photos Inspired by Paintings

Are you going to think I'm crazy if I tell you I photographed the soup yesterday because it reminded of the paintings by Kli*mt I copied below? It was something about the colors, and the way the potatoes and leeks seemed to have a bit of a checkered pattern... The photos do not convey the similarity well, but I felt it.

I love art, and although once in a while I have these feelings that something I see or a moment I live is reminding me of a painting, I had never registered it like that, in a photo. That's why what Anastasia said of her own project 365 is so fitting, we have to learn how to look, pay attention, and see new things. I'm glad it's finally dawning on me that I can do that.

Now you tell me. Does this soup (the close up doesn't really convey the texture, so I included another one that shows the pot)... ...Make you think of those, by any chance? Or is/was it just me? Now tell me, should I delete these images because it could be copyright infringement to have them here? I always wonder about that when I get images online.

2.20 - My Favorite Soup

Potato Leek Soup
No recipe needed, just three ingredients (plus water):
Butter (do not use margarine or oil, it won't be as good),
Chopped leeks (as much of the green as you want),
Peeled and cubed potatoes.
Sautée leeks and potatoes in butter until they begin to soften, add water, salt, pepper.
Use a masher to break potatoes after they're fully cooked. You can add a bit of cream if you want. (based on Debor@h M@dison's Vegetarian C00king for Everyone).
